LSP Children's Water Festival
People in Northeastern Colorado are very aware of the importance of water. It is a resource that we depend on in so many ways. The Lower South Platte (LSP) Children’s Water Festival, an event to help children learn about this vital resource as, will be held on September 18, 2024 at the Logan County Fairgrounds in Sterling, Colorado. This is an excellent opportunity for local students to learn more about this precious resource. The festival is open to area (Morgan, Washington, Logan and Sedgwick counties) schools’ 5th grade classes. This year we have over 600 kids registered to attend! We love having the opportunity to host some of the best kids around for a day of learning and fun.
Programs at this year’s festival include
Water in the West, Colorado is a Headwaters State, Saltwater vs. Freshwater, Highline’s High Voltage demonstration and electrical safety, Soil Profile Sand art, Flocc Model, How Much Water Does it Take, Mapping the State, Don’t be a Drip-Music and Water, Water tension, Leave it to Beavers, Fire Department, Water Relay, Colorado Groundwater Association demonstration, Edible Soil Profiles and Edible Aquifers. They will also start the day with a demonstration from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and their K-9’s.
